A brief account of our school, the educational community and the questions that drive the future of education.
On January 27, we were invited to participate in Storytime, Evoluzione Radio‘s radio program about projects and initiatives capable of bringing new perspectives to society.
The editors contacted us because they found the LiberSchool experience interesting for their listeners: a community school that started forty years ago in the Damanhur context and has grown over time as an educational laboratory.
During the interview, our president Capra Carruba told how the school was born and what principles guide our approach: a pedagogy based on art, travel and a relationship with nature.
We also talked about emotional and relational education, the connection with the land, and the different paths to sustainability that are part of school life: from caring for the land to relationships to the economic dimension of projects.
At the core is the idea of an educating community: a context in which children, families, teachers and the local area participate together in the educational process.
The question guiding our work is simple but important:
provide children with a happy school experience, but also ask what adults will need in the future.
This interview comes at a special time: LiberSchool is turning 40, an anniversary we will celebrate from May 8 to 10.
